In Search of Peace
A Visual Symphony
From the archives of photographer Yousef Khanfar

In Search of Peace is a symbolic original body of work from international award winning photographer, Yousef Khanfar, a Palestinian who never lived in his homeland, but growing up in the Middle East was always exposed to images of violence.  He chose to carry a camera instead of a gun and to promote peace around the world-- dedicating his art and his life to building bridges of understanding for all of humanity.

Containing 32 photographic images measuring 32 x 40 inches, In Search of Peace was developed as a Visual Symphony consisting of three movements, titled Sublime, Freedom and Divine.

The first movement, Sublime, portrays images with the awe-inspiring power and conflict inherent in natural phenomena; the conflict between earth and sky, which is a reflection of the human harsh conflict and the dark uncertainty of life in our current tragic world of wars and injustice.  The second movement, Freedom, exhibits exquisitely crafted impressionist images that convey the human rights for freedom of self-expression, religion, speech and the search for the truth, peace and love -- a confirmation of our faith in the dignity of the human race.  The third movement, Divine, displays images that reflect peace, tranquility and hope -- representing an invitation for reconciliation and renouncing that which makes us strangers.

In Search of Peace has been organized to exhibit within the United States and around the world including countries that have been historically rife with conflict such as Palestine, Israel, Yugoslavia, Northern Ireland, South Africa in order to instigate dialogues on peace.
